I discovered this refuge, Emeryville Marina, this little heaven, peaceful and inspiring sanctuary right here in the crowded East Bay, for living since we moved from Pennsylvania. I have been taking photographs, and writing poems but now I see the Bay vistas appearing on my canvases...

Riverine #6

Photography

24 in x 36 in x 0 in

Some of the clearest waters in the world come from snowmelt filtered through volcanic soil in the Oregon Cascades. I composed the Riverine series on the easel of one such crystal-clear creek bed, crisscrossed with energetic light patterns, like nerves in the water body.

Pearl Slice

Oil on canvas; razor-cut; lining of latex on canvas

72 in x 72 in x 3.5 in

This piece is prepped and painted with iridescent oil paint on both sides of the canvas. The razor-cut slices refract light, creating beautiful shadows reminiscent of ice. There is a canvas lining which generates shadows depending on the light source.
