"Roses" is an 18x24-inch abstract artwork on toned paper, created with acrylic ink, colored pencil, and watercolor. The piece features swirling, organic forms in dusty rose, green, and blue, evoking the delicate, dynamic nature of blooming roses.

My portraits evoke intimate & individualistic narratives, often with a layer of social commentary. For me, they serve as interesting counterparts to some of my more allegorical work. They allow me to ponder the individual for an extended time, which is a rewarding & important part of the process.

A depiction of the age we live in, simultaneously buffeted by the information brutality of the world's current events yet anchored by the average patterns we inhabit in the day to day slog.

This residential area, seen from above, is overlaid with five camouflaged paintbrushes. Most homes in the background were built generations ago; more recent multi-unit housing developments fill the paintbrush stencils in the foreground. Historical changes in housing design help define this piece.

Careful inspection of this aerial landscape reveals the handles of two camouflaged hammers overlaid on a background of warehouses, parking lots, and roads. Note the subtle interplay between the straight lines of the industrial buildings and the curved lines of tool handles once used to build them.

There comes a time when it becomes necessary to peel back a few timeworn layers to refresh and reveal the beauty that lies beneath.

This is my second perspective of a woman's crossed legs. One print was made on Hahnemhle's German Etching paper using pigment ink. This meets archival standards and will not fade - but avoid exposure to direct sunlight or use a UV protection acrylic.

This piece moves beyond the flatness of patchwork by using textured Hanji paper(Mulberry paper). Layering translucent and opaque silk fragments creates depth and a sense of dimension.

Inspired by the graceful movements of a betta fish's tail, this work uses thread as a main medium, showcasing its beauty and freedom. Unstitched fabric in a floating frame lets the thread's elegant, independent lines shine.

Without the universe humans would not exist. I explored the compelling contrasts between form, essence and abstraction. Materials; rust dyed silk, septarian stones & porcupine quills.

The structure is perforated aluminum that I hand formed. I then shredded color plates from a book on modern art paintings. I used the shredded paper as my color palette to recreate the image of the iconic "scream" by Edvard Munch. There are 5,824 holes that I needlepointed the paper.

The terrified nameless citizenry of 1950s b-movies dressed in colorful outfits are caught in horrified poses as they scream, flee and try to shoot their way out of certain death from off-screen monsters looking to squash them, natural disasters, giant crickets and alien landings.

The foundation of this piece is based on the dimensions and structure of Root Rectangles. I use this grid to deconstruct the conventional form to expose underlying abstractions in a playful way. My use of deeply saturated colors and soft pastels create a sense of movement and dimension.

This is a self-portrait piece that represents the feeling of having rose-tinted glasses on at the beginning of a relationship while slowly losing that veil and seeing things for what they are at the end.

Relaxing on the sofa between periods of resisting the regime

A plein air painting of Freeman Falls from the Olympic National Forest. Surrounding panel is an expression about the energy of winter storms that totally changed it from the movement of water, snow and wind. Honoring the unstable beauty of nature within the "Sacred Earth Holy Water" series of work.

Wild grass is so common. We may skip it, and not noticing it. But, when we change our perspective to it, we may find it rich , and colorful.

This piece was part of my Collage Memoir show at the Jen Tough Gallery. I drew some large and small self portraits and added a variety of collage elements such as a page from my economics Ph D. These juxtaposed fragments layered on to the surfaces create a multidimensional self portrait.

Jazz Man feels like the music he creates. There is not need for a face as he's feeling the music in his body.

Straddling the line between modern Photo Impressionism and Impressionistic Digital Art, my images reflect my fascination with the people and world around me. This image is part of a series using integrated backgrounds and illuminated outlines to create portraits and other people images.

Originally the technique of "pulling clay" was used to make handles for mugs. When the handles are pulled several feet long and manipulated, I am able to create my 3D doodle sculptures which are light, airy and a lot of fun. Clay takes on a fresh new dynamic.

I saw this tree on Carleton Ridge south of Missoula, Montana. Its seemingly classical contrapposto position (like Michelangelo's "David") captured my attention as well as its finely carved topography of fire carved lignin layers.
