Atmospheric landscape painting of the morning sky in Coachella Valley. The dawn was breaking and it cast an orange glow over the palms and succulents. This is a continuation of my "dark skies series" where I paint the night sky.

One beautiful day, while painting plein air in Walnut Creek, California, a gentleman unexpectedly rode past me on a unicycle. He became a delightful surprise and a spontaneous addition to this painting, set against the foothills of Mount Diablo.

From a series titled 33170589. Each piece has the number as part of the art and are a tribute to the magnificent moment of finding permanent home after being homeless. They are celebratory in nature, as I gained a large dose of compassion and gratitude, proving once again that art heals.

We can perceive alternate realities simultaneously if we are open to the universal truths of the human condition, nature and the universe. The slow process of stringing the beads (backwards) and knitting the beads off, offers for me a contemplation in these truths.

Created as part of a series entitled 'Living Things', rounded contours draw the eye and the hand in this piece, a nascent and somewhat ambiguous water creature. The overriding objective of the series was to envision creatures that 'could' be.

Created from a cube of translucent stone, a rounded torso is supported by three stubby legs, flanked by two relatively massive wings that suggest the possibility of flight.

All my ARTography is made up of actual photographs of multiple layers of clear pieces of glass, illuminated by colored lights. This creates whimsical, dreamy, psychedelic that is often mesmerizing. No AI, Graphic/Digital Art software is used. All elements are shown as captured by my camera!

I often feel like I'm arranging memories like sunflowers in my heart.....some huge and showy, some small buds. This work is a symbol of my attempt to find meaning and reconcile these pieces of myself.

To move into uncharted space, you must break free of the past, the baggage, the habits, the controls. When breaking through you are in the flow. Resistance is no longer a force. The illusion is of one figure suspended. Support by the standing figure is carefully disguised.

I referenced three photos taken by me or by my sons. Two photos were taken at Burning Man and the other at Lake Tahoe. I love seeing the long line of people all actively involved in their respective activities, creating a scene of life and community.

This mixed media piece is made from handpulled relief prints on paper collaged unto a paper wrapped canvas support. Acrylic paint has been applied to the prints.

A collaboration with Patrick Johnston of Venice, CA. This was made after the fires in the Pacific Palisades as a tribute to the beauty of this area in Los Angeles

This work exhibits the raw, straining experience of being left empty headed when it comes to producing creative ideas, leading to the phenomenon of "art block".

Kensho is a Japanese Zen term meaning "Seeing One's True Nature". A profound, often sudden glimpse or insight into the nature of reality and the self, distinct from full enlightenment but a crucial step and an awakening process.

UKIYO in the Japanese culture means "floating world". It was originally a Buddhist term for the sorrowful, impermanent world and shifted to embrace living for the moment and savoring fleeting, earthly pleasures.

My process begins with digitally altering a photograph in Photoshop to create the foundation for my art quilt. Subsequently, I use a digital textile printer to transfer the modified image onto fabric. Adding texture to the fabric through echo and channel stitching further enhances the visual impact.

The artwork explores human vulnerability. A figure formed of transparent bubbles appears fragile yet luminous, transforming isolation into light. Each bubble becomes a vessel of memory, a delicate crystal where time reflects, dissolves, and allows poetic fragments to surface.

A layered mixed media work based on photographs taken in Bangladesh, capturing the movement and density of urban life. Through emulsion transfer and collage, rickshaws, wires, and street scenes merge into a textured surface that reflects the experience of passing through place and memory.

A paradox between what we control and what quietly controls us.

Confidence appears in unexpected moments.

Delving into the surreal. The bees become the caretakers of humans in the hive.

A time of women's liberation. The body is airbrushed from an airbrushed female in a Playboy magazine. Totally perfect and totally unreal except in the minds of men. The snakes are, of course, from the myth about Medusa.

Looking down at the roots of a large tree next to the spring, you can see them blend in with the reflection of the tree itself on the water. This image is part of my Landscape series featuring the beauty of open spaces and nature.

Luminous paths extend from a central source, suggesting the moment when light becomes momentum. The work reflects transformation through clarity - when illumination itself begins to guide movement and create direction.

The title evokes the strength and fragility of ice floes, soon passing out of sight, memory or existence. The contrast between sharp, cracked areas and smoother diffusions suggests both erosion and emergence, chaos and calm.

This piece is from my "It's About Time" series in which I use events, milestones of my life or objects that signify the passing of time as inspirations for sculptures. When an old apricot tree in my yard split in half, I used a section from a limb to create this sculpture.

​

By crafting the form of the horn in metal, I explore ideas about sound and miscommunication. These vessels may amplify sound, but they also represent how messages can be misunderstood, misconstrued, distorted, or even lost.
